ebm-papst Inc. Wins in the 2008 AHR EXPO Innovation Awards!
(Farmington, CT) - ebm-papst Inc. is pleased to accept the 2008 AHR EXPO Innovation Award in the Ventilation Category for the 5-Blade EC Axial Fans with Winglets. Additionally, ebm-papst received an Honorable Mention in the Refrigeration Category for the Energy Saving Axial Fan Series.
As an Award Winner, ebm-papst will receive the Ventilation Award in a ceremony at the show, on Tuesday, January 22 at the 2008 AHR Expo in New York, NY. The ceremony will be held in the New Product Technology Theater A, located in the Special Evens Hall at the Javits Convention Center from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
ebm-papst Inc. will be displaying the winning products during the AHR Expo, January 22 - 24, 2008 and can be found at booth #2159.
About 5-Bladed EC Axial Fans with Winglets The product is a range of ebm-papst EC axial fans from 500mm to 910mm in diameter (5000 - 20,000 CFM), but the AHR award is more specifically for an innovation which addresses the noise created by turbulence across the blade tips. A feature referred to as a 'winglet', creates a type of labyrinth seal between the blade tips and venturi. The addition of these winglets - combined with a blade number decrease from 7 to 5 blades - resulted in a 10% aerodynamic efficiency gain and as much as a 14 dBA sound reduction without the need for tighter tip clearance or serrated trailing edges.
Axial fans are used in situations where a large volume of air is required to flow against a relatively low resistance. The ebm-papst design combines the superior life, versatility and motor efficiency of an EC drive with the substantial acoustic benefit and aerodynamic efficiency provided by the 5-blade design with winglets. Applications that prioritize these benefits and can make use of the available feature set - including speed modulation via external sensor or controller (10:1 turndown), integrated PID controller, alarm relay output, master/slave control and diagnostics - will gain the most from use of these products.
Commercial applications for both new construction and retrofit situations are the target of this product. Available mounting options make it suitable as an exhaust fan, cooling fan for condensers and transformers or even as a duct fan.
This product has many user and service friendly features including:
- Choice of configuration - fan only, fan with guard, fan with nozzle, etc.
- Wide voltage range
- Frequency independent
- Soft start for low inrush current
- Long life, maintenance free ball bearings
- Integrated overload and locked rotor protection
- Effortless process control
- IP54 environmental protection
This product was introduced mid-2007 and serial production has been available since then.
